monica5,
说法 is quite colloquial. It often implies an explanation regarding some injustice. It's sometimes interchangeable with 解释, which is the most general and safest word to use if you want to mean 'explanation'.
for example

I once rode a horse in Hohot. The grasslands are as expansive as they are beautiful. As far as the eye can see only grass, horses and manure inhabit this otherworldy landscape. Well...manure and those funny little beetles that roll the turds up into balls. (Dung Beetles I believe)
matt_c got it!

Can I use 解剖 to refer to cutting up an animal for food, i.e. carving up a turkey? Or do I just use 切 in this situation? Thanks.
ur right!Just use 切。
“解剖” is a Medical Term
