December 21, 2008 at 7:01 AMExcuse me for going off topic, but how does one say "prefer" in the vernacular? (Amber said "I prefer at times french cheese on a baguette," which brought the word to mind.) I've heard 想, 要, 喜欢 and all sorts of other words used. But nothing that quite captures the meaning of the English word.

She reflects the tremendous variety of people who speak English in the world, not just the progeny of the former British empire. That is what makes English such a wonderful, dynamic language. People who speak English (at least where I've lived in the United States) are used to hearing it in a hodgepodge of accents.
Not to mention that among all of the accents to be heard speaking English, Spanish is among the most pleasant and evocative. She is a welcome addition to the trio as far as I'm concerned.
