I know it's an old lesson, but I hope the right people will still see this - I have a question about Chinglish. We all know it can be found almost everywhere in China, but can anyone tell me who actually translates these signs? I know that the English knowledge in China is a bit 差, but I'm also sure there are many people whose English IS great. Can I therefore presume that these signs are not given to professional translators to translate, but are rather translated by the person who needs them, or a friend, or co-worker, with the help of machine translation? And that the people don't really care that much about the correctness, since the signs will ONLY be used by foreigners?

Thanks a lot for any reply :)
