Thanks for the response! "开夜车" is a great phrase I hadn't heard of before. I have more mixed feelings about "晕了", as it makes me think of Victorian ladies.
Speaking of unwanted connotations, it reminds me of using 爱 to mean "tends to". In my head 你为什么这么爱迟到/"Why are you always late" sounds like "Why do you love being late so much" which is sarcastic and mean in English :( There's also 我最怕迟到了, lit. "My biggest fear is being late", which I think in English would more naturally be "I hate being late". Such strong emotions about tardiness!

In English we can say, rather slang-ily,
"I have just spent the last 12 hours studying for the exam. My brain is broken,"
referring to being temporarily out of commission due to overuse, or
"I just saw goatse [don't google this]. My brain is broken,"
which is less about insanity than about being completely unable to come up with a response. To use a programming metaphor, it's like your brain has just thrown an unhandled exception. Speaking of, do we say "软件坏了”？
