December 6, 2008 at 5:59 AMI loved this. Joy is so cute -- especially when she laughed at the end. Well done and a great study!

December 2, 2008 at 6:28 AMInteresting dialog. When I first came to Taiwan a few months ago I had no idea what the lady was asking me. It took two or three trips to 7-11 to figure out what was up since none of the other countries I've lived in charges for bags. One thing that still surprises me is that when I buy a lot of food, the clerk stuff everything into one bag until it's literally overflowing!

November 20, 2008 at 3:18 AMI very much enjoyed this lesson! Sounds like me and piano lessons when I was a kid. I can't believe I understood 95% of this video. 7 weeks I could barely introduce myself.

November 13, 2008 at 1:50 PMThis is great timing! Today in my program here in Taiwan we just got this phrase. One interesting point is that we can add Measure Words between 請假(V O) as in 請三天假. I love the way Chinese works.
I never heard 周三. Always love learning new ways of saying things.

November 11, 2008 at 11:45 AMGreat lesson! I wonder how many words are like 生肖 -- having more than one tone set?

November 10, 2008 at 2:17 PMWow, these videos are impressive -- and extremely useful. Well done! In many ways these "story" videos represent real-life interaction and are excellent eavesdropping practice. I am particulary pleased that you've decided to include a second rendition with visual aids to reinforce context.
May I suggest making one "story" video available on on the frontpage to non-subscribers? It would help lure them into the site.
Again, kudos and look forward to more. Can't wait till the transcripts are officially up as well.
