1) Shěnglǜe = 'to omit'  &  jiégòu = 'structure' huòzhě 'construction', bùguò shēngdiào duì ma?

2) Can you say 'chi1 de wan4' for to be able to eat it all and/or for to be able to finish eating?

Reply to John, xièxie.  So if I said just "Tāmen jīngcháng jiābān" with no reference or context of 'tech guys' it would mean "They often have to work overtime".  What confused me was the 'tech' reference.  It just shows the tricky perils of language differences and I feel for you guys.  How I wish I could think more in pǔtōnghuà.
