I know I'm a bit late to post a comment on this lesson, but I have a question about the wen sound. My Chinese in-laws gave me a Chinese name, which includes the character wen. However, it always sounds to me like they are pronouncing the initial w almost like a v. I've noticed this on a couple of other words beginning with w as well. Is this an actual thing? Is it a regional issue(they're from Beijing)? Or is my hearing just off? Thanks.
