Posted on: These Napkins Ain't Free

In Taiwan I once had to buy toilet paper at a public restroom. It was 3 Taiwan dollars for a folded square. Most of the time it was free, but the toilet paper resembled table napkins.

I think I remember the word for server in the dialog was distinctly used in China. What word is used for server is used in Taiwan or other Chinese speaking areas? Please include pinyin.

Can anyone address hot and cold foods. They are not physically hot or cold.  I think it has something to do with yin and yang.  There are some foods you are not supposed to eat for certain illnesses or conditions. What makes these foods hot or cold?  Which foods are hot and which are cold?  Is there any scientific basis for that?  Thanks.

When do you say nar(3) instead of na(3)li? I hardly ever heard nar(3) in Taiwan.

How would you say you don't need to take your shoes off?
