March 9, 2010 at 2:28 PM喉咙 is the name of it, and 嗓子 has other meanings, like: 他的嗓子很好，唱歌很好听。but, you cannot say : 他的喉咙很好，唱歌很好听。嗓子indicates the voice, 她是金嗓子（她声音很悦耳，唱歌很好听）。她有一副好嗓子。

March 9, 2010 at 1:55 PM这本书太贵了 is a simple statement, but 这本书是太贵了 is a repeat of somebody else's word, and in this way to agree with their opinion on this matter, not a simple statement. for example, A: 这本书有点贵，我觉得。B：是啊，这本书是太贵了！here, 是 should have a stress.

March 9, 2010 at 1:42 PMI may have a try to answer this question, "合适" may use without a subject, like in the sentences: 这件衣服你穿真合适！这个挺合适的！这件比较合适！合适吗？挺合适的！while the word "适合" used with a subject or a verb,like " 这件衣服比较适合你。这个挺适合妈妈的肤色。我不太适合这么打扮。if you want to use 合适here, you can say 我这么打扮不太合适。

March 9, 2010 at 2:37 PM疼is more colloquial than 痛，痛can be found more in 词-- word that made of two characters or more, like 悲痛, 伤痛，痛心不已，痛不欲生, and all these 痛 can't be replaced by 疼。
