I was told by a friend today that all past sentences must have a 了 on the end. I doubt that Amber is wrong so could someone please provide some example sentences so that I can ask my friend about it.

Thanks

How about if you wanted to say: Hi [name]

would it be 你好[name] or [name]好?

Also what if you wanted to say: Hi dad

would it be 爸爸好 like teacher is 老师好?

Thanks

This confuses me too.

I see 我的朋友... 我的爸爸... etc. used too.

From here and here.

你的朋友什么名字
你的爸爸什么名字?

女儿可爱

tobbe,

There is no problem, you just need to match all 8 combinations. Obviously, if you get 7 right the other must be too.

Thanks,

From the expansion sentences from this lesson and this lesson, I assume 名字叫 and 名字是... are both fine.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when asking about chinese/english names you say:

你的中文名字是什么

我的中文名字是...

你有 (一个) 英文名字吗

我没有 (一个) 英文名字 (do you need the 一个 or not?)

谢谢

I'm surprised that they didn't explain how to construct numbers.

I'll try one then:

2,2300,8019 (223 008 019)

二亿二十三百万八仟零一十九

pchenery,

Newbie + Elementary + Intermediate + Upper Intermediate + Advanced + Media = 968

I assume 32 have been taken off

968 + Vocab Tour + Movie Madness + Dear Amber + News and Features + Qing Wen = 1159

Is there no word for 'brother' or 'sister' besides older/younger bro/sis?

How would you ask "Have you any brothers?"
