It is a very good question. It makes me search a lot.
1. 哪怕 is used in oral Chinese more.
2. 哪怕 has a stronger feeling.
3. 哪怕 emphrasizes your abilities, and 即使 emphrasizes the hard conditions.

Could you image that, 开->开锁, 通->通路.
想不开 means you've lock your heart. You know clearly why and how to solve the problem, but you won't. 想开了, You open your heart. You face it with courage.
想不通 means you cannot find out a way to solve the problem, or you don't know why it happened. 想通了, now you've know how to solve it, so just do it!
这小伙真是想不开，居然就跳楼了。
有啥想不通的，说出来大家一起想想办法，总能解决的。

It is a little difficult to explain the difference between 连 and 甚至.
他不但会说英语，日语，汉语， 还会说俄语

September 15, 2009, 09:49 AM我觉得某党的管理水平非常低下，在其管理下的中国是相当可怕的，“跨省”，“GFW”。我曾经自己建立过一个论坛，没有设置任何敏感字的情况下，关于极端民族主义的文章怎么都无法成功转载，说是有敏感字，只能解释为GFW的功劳！不了解极端民族主义的朋友，推荐找一下这篇文章来看看。爱国要理智，并不是一说到中国不好就暴跳如雷！
我只想说爱国不等于爱党。想起来一个经典的QQ签名：这年头，不爱国要理直气壮！因为某党混淆了党国的概念，宣传口号一直都是“爱党，爱国，爱人民”！某党的罪恶，罄竹难书！
