其实amnion和amnos是古希腊语。 西方语言里医学的词汇大部分是从古希腊语来的,像cardiology, neurology, hepatite 什么的。因为拉丁语也是属于印欧语言系, agnus 和 amnos 有点类似

January 20, 2009 at 11:30 AMyou can really have an other feeling about some modern caracters or words if you know where they are coming from, what they meant through history, the development, etc.. I think it helps constructing real fluency in fact...to get the nuances between two words having same translation..
yeah, 静夜思 is a bit like these basically wonderful melodies destroyed forever because we hear them hundred times a day in the elevators..

January 20, 2009 at 9:47 AMgreat, and thank you thank you not to have begun with:
床前明月光, etc.. of 李白。 It's nice as well but it seems to be the one every teacher wants to begin with..
I also agree, a bit longer, maybe, and introducing piece by piece the basic patterns of classical chinese (like just explaining 言 is used for shuo, making little example with another sentence, etc..)
Hey on the occasion you could invit some chinese or western sinologist to discuss a poem with you!

December 19, 2008 at 8:57 PMHey, maybe i'm an easy public but I laughed..it was so surrealist. and when you're having strong emotion (as fear, burst of laugh, of sadness or whatever), you remember.. so the idea is not so stupid, it should just be more develloped. and the radicals are in fact no big deal to learn, you should try to adapt the idea to entire words.. for exemple a video like this one would be great with some words or phrases appearing on the background like "oh it's so cheesy" "i'm not laughing" "what the hack are they doing" etc...hey seriously, when you're able to make comments while watching tv, your're half way to fluency. i had a good time watching it anyway, go on looking for new concepts! (and sorry for my poor english)

October 29, 2008 at 10:51 PM对, 读鲁迅的作品不太难。用的词汇比较简单 (至少我看过的)难的是理解他想表达什么(没有老师或者编辑的解释的话, 不太简单, 可是要搜一下鲁迅这个人有什么主张, 就知道他想表达什么(其实也不一定。。)

January 25, 2009 at 2:20 PM88 is cool and useful in chinese but has a bad connotation in western languages..iwonder if there are more abbreviations which can lead to misunderstanding..
anyway, it depends of the context.
有时候要小心!
