小肥羊 is a global chain. It's the Macdonald's of hot pot. There is one a few blocks from me in Chengdu, they also have them at home in Canada.

somehow, pete as 白龙 strikes me as hilarious

吴 (wu) can make all kinds of mischief in combination with other things. I had one student named 吴名, no name.

鱼 (fish) is a very common character in girls' names, actually. I know a 黄鱼.

Another famous Dongbei dish is 锅暴肉, breaded pork slices in a sweet and sour sauce. But, it is almost as often written 锅包肉 and I have also seen 锅巴肉. I am pretty sure these are all the same dish, can anyone confirm?

those emotional moments with a langauge barrier can be perplexing but the friendships are well worth it : )

Is crying from happiness still 哭 ?

I got 'don't cry' 不哭

and 'go ahead and cry' - 想哭、 就哭

but what if someone is crying from happiness and you want to say something like 'let it out, crying from happiness is an amazing feeling'? 想哭、 就哭, seems a little off.
