May 13, 2013, 05:01 AMI'm a family doctor in Australia, and I use a smattering of Mandarin when I consult with Chinese patients.
Australian doctors are always trying to educate people about the uselessness of antibiotics for viral illnesses as opposed to bacterial ones and the local patients are catching on.
However, when I broach the idea with recent immigrants from China they seem bemused.
Can anyone tell me about the level of awareness of this issue in China?

December 28, 2011, 05:44 AMMe too. I had a private teacher and worked through five volumes of "New Practical Chinese Reader". It got a bit dry in later volumes and the breezy spontaneity of chinesepod provided an excellent contrast.

What I've always enjoyed about Chinesepod over the four or five years I've been a member is the exposure to a whole bunch of different material, often reflecting contemporary language trends. As soon as you sit down and codify the language you quickly end up getting out of date. As for understanding the dialogues at UI, just stick at it. They're a bit tough if you listen to them cold , but if you look at the vocab first then have the dialogue up on a screen when you listen, you'll quickly catch on.
