January 30, 2012 at 6:41 AMComment on this:The Head Doctor at the Chinese Center for Respiratory Infections is leaning against a "no-smoking" sign in the lobby of this center.Go ahead and talk all the talk about "air quality control"...as I walked in, he smiled and offered me a smoke.
How about this one: I go swimming to the University's pool to try to clear my lungs and the swimming coach and the lifeguards are sitting around, again underneath huge "no-smoking" signs, all smoking.
...when I say something they start laughing. When I get angry they get defensive. When I suggest they stop using offensive language, they threaten to call all their friends. When I propose a one-on-one fight, they start calling all their friends...while still smoking.

July 17, 2009 at 2:26 AMJenny,
With all due respect,
your former photo was better...looking into the distance, into the future...something very idealistic and truly romantic about it. On this photo...you're here, in the "now", looking at us. A little intimidating...you are saying "so, how's your Chinese now, boy?".
I'm feeling the pressure!
...Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! ( my Monalisa )

July 10, 2009 at 10:12 AMTo Jennyzhu,
..."good" discipline doesn't come from zero choices. To the contrary, discipline is tested and challenged when a person is faced with many choices, distractions, and or temptations. Then based on his or her decisions can we say he/she has "good" or "bad" discipline.
...marching down the same path back and forth to school for some 12 years, 12 hours a day, including Sundays, is not good discipline. Having to check your name on a list 12 times a day, everywhere you go, and doing everything you're told, no questions asked...that "ain't good discipline" either.
...being accountable doesn't mean being disciplined.
Give a person complete control and self-supervision of his or her time...then we can judge his or her level of discipline.
...also "good" is not a very precise indicator. "Strong" or "weak" are better labels.

May 22, 2012 at 4:45 AMI've noticed that in many lessons the play-back feature doesn't work in many of the sentences. Other than that, CP rocks.
