I do find your comments on pinyin useful (e.g. ui being really uei), and wouldn't doubt that there are other special ways in which it differs from English too. However, something I admire about pinyin is that I find it much more consistent in spelling than English words (e.g. plough, rough & through, or read & read).

I'm new at using reviews, and struggled late in this review - I often didn't have enough time to put words into context, and I think that "his" was more than once translated as "ni3" instead of "ta1". Is that all typical of reviews?
