Somewhat related to the topic of 虽然/尽管, there is also the word 固然 which I believe is something like "granted" or "admittedly."

I believe Connie said 有的比较书面，有的比较口语。书面 is literally "written" and 口语 is "colloquial."  In other contexts "formal" would be 正式

我开的就是混合动力车，丰田的Prius（不知道有没有中文的名字）。我在2002年二月买过，所以已经快要八年开这辆车。我十分满意。平均得到41mpg （5.7L/100km)。我买的时候有两千块美金的补贴（不知道中文怎么说tax credit). 以前，在洛杉矶市混合动力车在路边停车是免费的（现在得付钱，可能是预算的问题）。开混合动力车也可以一个人开在共行车道(carpool lane)。

对我来说这节课的内容很有用，因为常常会有人问我一些跟我车有关的问题。现在我能比较自信地用中文回答。

这是我第一次在中文博客上写留言，但是我已经听很久（几年了）。如果有哪里写错或者写得不好，请原谅 （其实帮我改写更好）。
