It seems 'z' is missing for the pinyin 'méi ěnme' in a box for the 12th exercise.

Just some suggestions. I understand the translations in the 11th & 12th expansions but feel perhaps the following might be better without altering the meaning. First, "Their offer is too low", or maybe "Their price offer is too low". These are also closer to what is usually said in English. In the next one, "Mr. Wang's asking price is too high" is a common expression reflecting how one normally asks for what one wants. The other thing is that it seems the box that pops up for 'dǎzhékòu' in the 18th expansion has mistakenly put a 'zhé' for 'kòu'. A very good interesting lesson! Thanks for the great effort.

I don't think cutting-edge is used very much to refer to the latest soccer or sport news.  It's more commonly used to refer to the latest developments in state-of-the-art science & technology.  In the 14th expansion, shouldn't the answer be in Mandarin "...Zài zhèlǐ.", or else, in the English, "...It's there."?  Finally, is it also acceptable to use 'zūfèi' for rental fee?

The next-to-last expansion is a little mixed up on its pronouns.  It should be "Before what time will you call me?..."  And the last one needs a Ms. instead of Mr.

Thank you, so is the 17th expansion actually saying "You're learning Chinese, how long have you studied it?", but the translation just shortens it to "How long have you studied Chinese?"?  Xièxie.

I'm pretty sure 'kànshū' is a líhécí but is 'xuéxī'?  The latter seems to be handled that way in the 17th expansion sentence but I'd be grateful for a confirmation that is what is happening there.  Xièxie.

I know your feeling, but I think we're supposed to learn straight from Mandarin if we can so we don't think too much in English. Perhaps you might find it better in the Intermediate section where there is so much more Mandarin you may not be trying so much to go from English to Mandarin. Just a thought. Good luck!

It seems if the 6th expansion was "Tā yòu yào chídào le", then it could be translated "He's late again" or else "He's going to be late again".  Check out the discussion near the end of the 1st web page in Elementary #1714.
