Thank you for this lesson. I am a BSL (British Sign Language) interpreter. Interestingly, I found there are a couple of similar gamatical structures between sign language and Chinese: 'topic-comment' structure and non-existing verb tenses.
Each time I visit China I always try and make contact with the local Deaf community (in the UK the natural place to go is the local Deaf club, i.e. not schools but social gatherings), but how do I find them in China? Is there a website listing regional/local activities?
Another question: how and to what extent does the Chinese Deaf community relate to Deaf (capital 'D', ie. culturally deaf)?
Lastly, 聋哑 (as shown in Alice's utube entry) is rather un-PC in many Western countries, but perhaps not so in all of China?
