Is 糟糕 an appropriate word to use in all circumstances?  The dialogue makes it sound akin to "darn" or "sugar" (?), but the vocabulary list says "damn."  The latter isn't such a bad word in English, but there might be a difference between "damn" and "darn," for example, when there are kids in the room.
