I had no idea that Yi Jianlian would be so good on the Bucks. When he first started, I though he wouldn't be able to take the high pressure of an NBA game.
Yeah. He's doing a lot better than Yao Ming did when he first went to the NBA. When he first went to play for the Rockets, Yao Ming was always either stumbling or making fouls. He was always running around, but it was like carrying water in a bamboo basket-- totally pointless.
But now there is no question about his abilities. Not only is he a core player on the team. Some people go so far as to say he's the best center in the NBA. I really had no idea we Chinese could hold our own in the NBA. When I first started watching the NBA in the old days, I thought the players had springs on their feet and could fly through the air. They were truly incredible.
Yeah! It kind of crept up on us, but the NBA has been broadcasting in China for nearly twenty years now. It used to be really hard to see a game-- it was like Chinese New Year! People would cut classes or take time off from work to watch it. Now, there are a bunch of live broadcasts every weekend.
