On behalf of the People's Procuratorate, I am initiating legal proceedings against the defendant, Chen Yao. I accuse her of murdering her husband, Wang Junwei, on August 12, 2008. The police investigation shows that other than the deceased and Chen Yao, no one else entered the dwelling that day. Furthermore, the relationship between the deceased and Chen Yao existed only in name, and they were getting ready to divorce. Because of this, the defendant had a solid motive for the crime.

Your honor, first, let me express my sincere sorrow for the victim. But as Chen Yao's defense attorney, I do not agree with the prosecution's criminal charges against Chen Yao. I will prove that Chen Yao not only did not have the time to commit the crime, but also that she did not have a motive for murder. Additionally, during the course of the investigation, the police did not thoroughly investigate other suspects. They wrapped up the case in a sloppy way, which was extremely unfair to my client.
