Having a housekeeper or an Ayi (阿姨, āyí) is a luxury that many people in the middle and upper classes in China can afford. It's nice to have someone else do your cooking, cleaning and washing for you, but there are trade-offs. Having someone else do your work for you means that it would always be the way that you like it. If you want, you can get a new Ayi, but that might harder than you think...
