November 01, 2007, 08:53 AMTalking of links, some people occasionaly "Abuse [of] our study area for a thinly disguised snake-oil style marketing hype" which is "the height of disrespect" as AuntySue rightly pointed out. I am no longer going to respond to or even name that thread, I suggest we keep the message and just ignore it, but since ChinesePod is able to edit message links, I would suggest they remove or clear it, otherwise, that website would get a free boost from search engines simply by virtue of being refered to from such a high rank, high traffic as ChinesePod.

November 01, 2007, 09:18 AMHi Goulnik, We have now erased this awful thread. We are usually on top of it but even I was fooled into thinking it was legitimate until Clay pointed it out (to be honest, I only scanned through the first two paragraphs). Spammers are definitely getting smarter and smarter.

November 01, 2007, 12:32 PMAre there Chinese lessons for spammers here? please stop then, because they seem to be using Chinese to send me email now. :P ha ha (And get this, my hotmail address got used to spend out spam to all those on my [or someone else's] MSN Messenger, all in Chinese, and oddly a friend of mine in America got the email, and wrote a serious note back to me asking how I expected her to be able to read the message in Chinese, as if I purposely sent out something to her. I in turn introduced her to the world of Chinese spam.)

November 01, 2007, 02:47 PMThanks, goulnik for pointing that thread out. I, too, was offended by such dishonorable tactics.

November 01, 2007, 04:19 PMSPAM in UK, Aus & NZ is a curious collection of 'spiced pork and meat'. It's comes in a tin and looks pretty grim but served people well during WW2. So even saying Spam is marketing of sorts.
