Well, I've never been to England but worked with a Executive Chef from the Royal Navy (was it Navy??, can't remember) and he was an excellent finisher in the pastry area. I'm sure England has some tasty foods and I was just messing with you Britts.. No mal-intent intended.

And, Chitty, if that's your pic in your avatar you are incredibly cute.

As far as American food there's plenty of native food many don't know about. Southern cooking (Chicken and Dumpings, Fried Okra, Catfish, Mashed Potatos, BlackEyed Peas, Collard Greens, Turnip Greens, Ham. etc).

Ya'll come on down and have some!!

Vicius statement about British people not knowing about flavour and just cooking does have some 道理. But infact in my view that is just our 口味. As a british myself, i honestly day to day prefer a heavy, light in flavour but heavy in texture dish to a flavourfull-spicy-sweet Chinese dish.

I do admit that I would not expect many people coming come to England to have sampling the food as a main objective, as they might going to Italy, France spain greece etc. But the flavour suits the british peoples taste and climate.

Regarding Tvans, i guess sarcastic comment "The hoppin' social scene in Yorkshire". I can be less understanding. I dont know your history but if you have been to Yorkshire, England or indeed know anything about England you would know that Yorkshire , although admittidly not a Worldwide nightlife super hot spot, is by no means below average and in need to critiism.

Indeed Yorkshire not only is home to the fastest growing and most important cities in England - Leeds, without doubt in the top 5 for nightlife in England. It is also has a rich hertage of friendly pubs and venues set within the most beatiful scenery setting in England.

and my final point is : I dont like your face

Hi hi, i agree whith billybobjoebobwilly, british people know nothing about flavor, they just cook.

And i have one question, have you some one (not british) say or have listen some one saying, let's go to a british restaurant, or i love british food?? don't think so, never do i and never have listened something like this, and if u don't know why chinese food is better than british so u don't know the difference between eating grass or coriander.

And sorry for my inglish im out of practice.

Ahh pulosm that food that u claim as american comes whith the people, inmigrants, that can't integrate in that society, so u can't say that theyr food is from USA until they have integrated to that society, until those people don't integrate that society, the food of USA will be always hot dogs and hamburgers no more than that, because the food comes whith the culture.

Sorry, Bazza. My attempt at satirising Yob Culture came out like a threat! When I said "Run for it!", I meant run to China. British Yobs put me in a coma. I've never felt safer than I did in China.

Here, in England, real men don't think about food. We don't think. Anyway, nutrition is for newts. We're as newts when we've drunk too much, then food is fuel for fighting. Fresh food means biting someone's ear off. Did you say we're a bit sad? Not within earshot! Shooting ears... now there's an idea... Run for it, Bazza!

Because he might not see the rest of China. Enough to fill and fulfil a lifetime. He should sell up and downsize. Don't stay in one place, do a Jack Kerouac in China and go "On the Road". Then write a book about it. "Yorkshire up the Yangtse" - Cpoddies would buy it.

err... why Bazza shouldn't move to Shanghai... (Chinese, China whatever)

Profile picture

Another reason Bazza shouldn't move to Chinese:

(taken from my experience on why I shouldn't have moved to UK):

The computer keyboards will be all screwed up for you, with the @ sign being switched with " key, the £ sign is on the '3' key where the # should go, \ is where your # is, the left shift will be longer in place of where your \ is. The ~ is on the key before the '1' key (where you have ¬ instead), you will no longer be able to press-and-hold your Alt-Gr key to get the ¦ and € (that will be none existent, along with £ of course...) as | is where your ~ is... and the list probably goes on and on and on....

Of course you'll probably just have a laptop anyway, so my argument is mute (just venting my confusion every time I go to the uni's computer lap... *sigh* *sigh* *sigh*... I still can't type my email address to log in here with out typing " instead of @ first!)

American food also includes picnics that I am sure have some unique characteristics, even compared to Britain (but haven't been on a picnic here yet, well, I have, and it was a bunch of vegans, so that doesn't count :P No offense to vegans, but burgers and fried chicken come first in an American picnic), and also steak and potatoes, especially around Texas.

Billy Bob,

American food is delicious, what are you talking about? American food, like American people, comes from all over the world---I hope you don't think hot dogs and hamburgers are American food. American food is ma po tofu, tacos, churrasco, hummus, phở, chicken tikka marsala, etc. It's the best food in the world, because it represents the world. Yay, America! (how's that for a little patriotism?)

To quote the Vulcan philosopher Spock, "As a matter of cosmic history (Doctor), it has always been easier to destroy than to create."

So, you sensitive English people, you; you don't like my lame excuse for Bazza not to move? (Remember the post subject?) What's your lame excuse? Or is Bazza doomed to Yorkshire purgatory, never to experience his personal Genesis in Shanghai?

BTW, you might not like the food in San Francisco, but we have lots of queens too.

When I was in San Francisco the food was frankly terrible and in New York.. not any better there either. In the UK you will find really delicious food though probably it wont be indigenous from the birth of Moses but for better or worse the food from the migrants bring their food and adapt it to our tastes.

Those who say the food in the UK is not good I think hasnt tried it

You can get really nice food in the UK on occasion. I just find you have to be prepared to pay for it.

And Yorkshire really is not quite like the rest of England. My friends and I reckon that it ought to be it's own seperate country!

If you take the best of Chinese food/French food/English food then perhaps you can make such a list.

But if you think about what you eat day to day, what is readily available to you and is affordable...then the Chinese eating experience isnt so hot. English food will leave you happy - French probably more so, dunno about American

Profile picture
billybobjoebobwilly

Well, in the world of culinary delights, English food is quite possibly below American food , While Chinese food is just above French Food.

Yes English food is better than Chinese food.

English food fills you up

English people dont see the need to add countless and pointless spices/addtives/sugar/colour to everything

Weather

The English weather is alot alot better than Shanghai (its too hot or too cold here - england is always in the middle - nice.

The air is nice in England

There are alot of English people in England - granted, you may have to drink with them = bad, but avoidable...

There are alot of Chinese people in China - You will have to work with them = not easy
