”的”和”之”

yes, you can say that. What I meant by “之” 的后边一般是一个 syllable 的词，而“的”的后边一般是两个syllable的 is that in most cases, 之 just can be followed by a one syllable word. For example, 光荣之家（glorious family），and 光荣的一家。

2.In some cases, it can only use 之.
比如”其中之一(one of...) “百分之八十 （80%）” 等。
