Dead discussions?

Hi!

Chinesepod is great, although some changes are desired as far as layout and navigation is concerned (the "forums" being an great example of bad layout), but on the whole, its pretty good.

One thing that bothers me is that the lesson discussions are so DEAD. We learn by using our chinese, and what better way to do that than participating in some nice Chinese discussions about the lesson we are studying. It doesnt take more than five minutes to write something, and then you can just leave it there and continue the discussion the next day or whenever.

I can understand that the teachers are busy, seing how many lessons there are and the ammount of people asking stuff, but atleast us students could try to be more active.

Actually, on Cpod, discussions are never dead but could sometimes be asleep (or dying).

Well, in the time i've been subscribing, there have been up and down periods of posted comments. Back in the day (2009), there would be maybe 150-200 comments on a interesting lesson/inflammatory post. Funny, most of the time it was some discussion only tangentially related to the Chinese lesson heading the thread. Nowadays, it seems that 40 comments are a lot of comments on a particular lesson.

The reason: the free one week trial premium subscription doesn't exist anymore. Only paying subscribers are normally in the forum, and it seems there aren't so many. Even News and Features are now "Basic" content and must be payed - isn't that strange, because it should also inform new customers, or?
