I found a reference to 睡在樹上的年輕人.

Does this refer to young people who sleep IN trees or UNDER trees?

ie. does 樹上 mean 'in the tree' or 'under the tree' ?

(BTW, please no guesses or 'gut feelings'.)

樹上 means in the tree

If it's under the tree, it should be 樹下

上 means up

下 means under
