Dilu: 大家好，我是Dilu
John: So today we're going to get into some graphs, is that right? How do we say graph in Chinese?
Dilu: 图表，图表
John: OK, 2nd tone, 3rd tone, right?
Dilu: 对，图就是图片的图，表呢就是表格的表
John: So that's like 图片 is picture
Dilu: 嗯
John: and 表格 is table
Dilu: 嗯，没错
John: You put a picture and a table together and you get something like a graph, chart, diagram

John: OK, so we're looking at the 图表 before the meeting, right?
Dilu: 对，这是一个销量的图表
John: OK, 销量，what is that?
Dilu: 啊，这个销就是销售的销，量呢就是数量的量

John: OK, so 销售 is sales, right?
Dilu: 没错
John: That's 1st tone, 4th tone. So 销 is 1st tone and then 量 is 4th tone, right?
Dilu: 对，第一声和第四声，销量
John: So 销量 refers to sales figures, sales volumes and that type of thing
Dilu: 是的，但是销量呢会有一些变化，它可以上升
John: So 上升，上 means up, right?
Dilu: 对
John: That's, uh, 4th tone and 升，1st tone, together 上升 means to rise, right, to go up

John: OK, so what are these graphs for. Um, we're going to hear them in the dialogue, they're going to be talking about sales of TVs, air-conditioners, refridgerators...
Dilu: Why don't we just listen to the dialogue first
John: Alright and then we'll get into all the details

John: Right, so sales have been rising continuously
Dilu: 恩，那我们后面还曲线一个【词找】下降，下降
John: So that's the opposite of...
Dilu: 上升
John: OK so 下降，so 下降 is two fourth tones, right?
Dilu: 对，两个第四声，下降
John: Right, going down, two fourth tones, nice
Dilu: 那我们来看一看这个销量怎么样

John: Alright, so we're going to discuss sales in terms of quarters, right?
Dilu: 对，第一季度，第一季度
John: So, that's first quarter, and the word for quarter again is?
Dilu: 季度，季度，两个第四声
John: OK, two fourth tones. So we're going to hear this word 季度 quite a few times
Dilu: 第一季度的销量是八百台，第四季度的销量是一千台，上升了百分之二十五

Dilu: 去年电视机销量不错一直在上升
John: So 一直在上升, uh often you'll notice this 一直 meaning continuously, all along, it comes before 在. So something has been happening.
Dilu: 就是一直在
