How to say 'stoned:

大 (da4) or 大了 (da4 le5) = wasted or high (Bejing)
咳 (hai1) = "high" on weed

大了....this is the most interesting...is it "wide eyed" or deep/clear understanding?

If you listen to that "Legalize It" lesson, they talk about the word high or 咳 not necessarily reffering to drugs

just means I'm big. Evidently you can say 我抽大了- I smoked big. I guess getting big could be getting tall, which is high, or feeling big, feeling good. Steve Martin used to say "lets get small".

its all context I suppose. In the US folks get buzzed, stoned, baked, or toasted. Alcohol has its own set of lingo.

Perhaps you could explain it by saying 陶醉在大麻 . This means intoxicated on marijuana. Or you could act it out perhaps. Slang terms may or may not be understood depending on how "street wise" your interlocutor may be. How do you say munchies? 想吃零食的欲望?

March 08, 2013, 03:11 PMActually, as a Chinese man, I can teel you, there is no translation of 'stoned', we use what you use. 平时，有人嗑药我们会说他嗨（high）了，which sounds exactly the same with the English word 'high'. I know u have phrases like 'high like a kate', we say 'high 大了'。Some of us (college students) will actually use 'stoned', literally. But pay attention, '嗨' is also used to express that someone is having a great time. 4 Example, 玩嗨了 simply means that someone is having fun. So, say, we're more influenced by Western culture than we could expect.
BTW, you may wanna know the Chinese 4 wasted. It's 喝大了 or 喝麻了。When you say 'drunk', it's just 喝醉了。
