Server Down Time
John
January 17, 2008, 10:07 AM posted in General DiscussionWe need to transfer some data to a new server tomorrow, Friday, January 18th at 2pm Shanghai time (+0800). ChinesePod will be down for 2-3 hours.
Sorry for the disruption, but the site should be faster overall after the upgrade.

January 19, 2008, 08:42 PMI don't know if it's related but the chinesPod website is way too slow this evening. Between today and yesterday, I would say it's approx 10 times slower.

January 18, 2008, 02:21 AMRJBerki, Should be: 我很害怕 Don't worry... there are no icebergs involved this time, and no changes to the service itself. We're just trying to better balance the server load.

January 18, 2008, 09:20 AMIt happened. Apparently some users may not have even noticed it. Painless enough? :)

January 18, 2008, 03:42 AMSo long as there's no pesky users logged in trying to do stuff while it's happening (hmph! what do they think this is anyway?), everything should go fine! :-) Thanks for the sensible decision, and the notice. If the forum will still be up(?), it'd be nice to have a note there too. Sounds like a good day for relaxed practice copying hanzi sentences from PDFs, while listening to the lesson on repeat.
