Server Down Time

We need to transfer some data to a new server tomorrow, Friday, January 18th at 2pm Shanghai time (+0800). ChinesePod will be down for 2-3 hours.

Sorry for the disruption, but the site should be faster overall after the upgrade.

I don't know if it's related but the chinesPod website is way too slow this evening. Between today and yesterday, I would say it's approx 10 times slower.

RJBerki, Should be: 我很害怕 Don't worry... there are no icebergs involved this time, and no changes to the service itself. We're just trying to better balance the server load.

Thanks John. I am just giving you a hard time. Im sure everything will be ok, but how do you say I have my fingers crossed? Do they say such a thing in Chinese?

Things seem much more responsive.... is it just me?

So long as there's no pesky users logged in trying to do stuff while it's happening (hmph! what do they think this is anyway?), everything should go fine! :-) Thanks for the sensible decision, and the notice. If the forum will still be up(?), it'd be nice to have a note there too. Sounds like a good day for relaxed practice copying hanzi sentences from PDFs, while listening to the lesson on repeat.
