How to generate this word on computer?

July 20, 2013, 10:19 AM posted in I Have a QuestionIn my Chinese Dictionary , I can find this word 口哀under the Radical 口 with 9 strokes,with the Pinyin given as ei2 .I think the word is a modal particle . However I can’t figure out how to input it on computer. Does anybody know what pinyin I need to use to generate this character as one character ( rather than having to use both “kou” and “ai”?Thanks .

First, I have to say some characters can't be found on computer. It depends the input software. Some Chinese people have names with those different characters. Unfortuantely they can't be found in the police system because you can't find the characters.
And for radical, there are several way to input radical: if you use WORD CHINESE, 'insert'-'simbol' -'CJK' you can find the radical. Or you use '全拼输入’，type 'pianpang' the radicals will show up.
And for '嗯' I just save 'ńg' for copying and pasting. :-)

Thanks Vera .I love the story that some people don’t show up on the Police files simply because the characters in their names can’t be found on computer!
I use English word and I also use Google input system. I can find ń on the “Insert Symbol” but I can’t find n4th tone, to be able to copy and paste it in the Phonic Guide –Ruby text section of the input system. Does that mean that n 4th tone is also not available on computer?

I don't think it's avaiable on computer. But maybe there is a way, I just didn't figure out.

The reason why there would be two versions of 嗯 pinyin is because one is a more conventional way (en) and comes from 恩, whereas ng is a closer representation in sound.

I am still no nearer solving how to generate this character 口哀 as one character on the computer , but now I have some other questions.
For the character 嗯 in my dictionary it gives me the Pinyin n4g.However on computer I can only generate this character by using the Pinyin e4n. Why two different Pinyin spellings for this character? Also I always understood that the tones had to be over a vowel sound. When I use Chinese-tools.com Pinyin Editor there is no facility to input “n” or” ng”.
So the question is how to generate 嗯 and above it show the Pinyin as “n4g” ?
Again it seems extraordinary to me that you can have characters in the official Chinese dictionary that you cannot input on computer. At the same time you can input characters like 左挂耳 “阝” that have no phonic ( ie no way to pronounce them on their own ), and never appear as a character on their own.
I feel like I am missing something somewhere.
