Hi, can someone please explain the vocabulary item "", in its definition of "now, at present"? Is this a very commonly used word in speech, or is it more ? Thanks!

“眼下” can mean "at the moment" or "at present". This word comes from ancient. Now we also use this word. It can be used in both speech or written language.

Is 眼下 similar in meaning and usage to 目前?

yes 眼下 is similar in meaning and usage to 目前, But 目前 is more formal than 眼下 . for instance , in a report , we use 目前 more often .
