Exploding car traffic sign?
henning
March 15, 2008, 06:17 AM posted in General DiscussionAnybody knows the meaning of the Chinese traffic sign that depics an inflaming or exploding car, clearly stating that this an prohibited action?
The cab driver said she asked herself that question over and over. She did not know.
So does it mean
"car-bombing is not allowed at this traffic spot"?
[sorry, no, I did not have my camera with me and I am leaving Beijing today so there is no opportunity to gather further evidence. But it seams to be used frequently.]

March 15, 2008, 11:26 AMSurely that means no camp fires on your car roof? ;) I was always confused by this British sign when I was a kid. Thought it meant watch out for motorbikes jumping over cars. hehe

March 15, 2008, 12:47 PM/Users/gesa/Desktop/schild3.gif i think "horn prohibited" is the funniest sign you can see in China.. who cares? absolute waste of money to put them anywhere...nobody cares! i think a car without a horn is impossible to sell in China! :-)

March 15, 2008, 02:14 PMAwesome catch Henning. Goulniky's explanation aside, I'd favour "when things blow up, no fleeing in vehicles allowed."

March 15, 2008, 07:01 AMcan't seem to find any corresponding traffic sign 道路交通标志 (dàolù jiāotōng biāozhì) among the 'prohibited' signs 禁令标志 (jìnlìng biāozhì)
