March 28, 2008, 02:14 AM posted in General DiscussionI guess some of you may know this song, hope you can help me about the English lyric. It is Apologize by Timbaland
I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And i need you like a heart needs a beat
But it is nothing new
I loved you with a fire red
Now it is turning blue, you say...
"Sorry" like the angle heaven let me think was you
I can not understand this section very much! Can someone explain it for me?

March 29, 2008, 10:52 AMNo, no, just somewhere in the crowd. Actually you probably would need a resolution beyond HDTV to actually make me out. Just like in real life :)

March 28, 2008, 02:45 AMCassie, I'll give it a shot! I think he's singing about his lover who broke his heart. I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you. He wants to give her another chance for them to be together...he's willing to fall for her again...give their love another shot (another try). And I need you like a heart needs a beat. Basically, he can't live without her. But it is nothing new I'm guessing he's saying she still doesn't love him. I loved you with a fire red His heart (love) was on fire for her. Now it is turning blue, you say... Her "coldness" and lack of love for him has made his fire heart (love) cold (blue). "Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you. I'm not sure about this line, but I'm guessing she just says "Sorry", like it's no big deal to her...and maybe he's realizing that she's not the person he thought she was (not the sweet angel sent from heaven). Hope this helps you understand a little better....if only I were able to give Cassie some help for once :)

March 28, 2008, 04:47 AMobitoddokenobi, I had got the Whole English lyric yet, but thank you all the same! Brent, Thank you so much for those detail expressions about the lyric, i understand it better now! I was puzzled by "take a fall, take a shot for you" , but i get it now! So "a shot" can means "a try", I like the expression "I'll give it a shot ", that's pretty cool. I just knew "I'll give it a try " before! And i think "fire red" and "blue" are very vivid expression!!! I didn't notice that "blue" means "coldness" here before, thank you brent, you are really a nice person! Cassie^_^

March 28, 2008, 05:07 AMCasie, If you like Timbaland, I highly recommend "promiscuous" and "give it to me". He did those with Nelly Furtado. The lyrics are way more fun too!

March 28, 2008, 02:02 PMTiaPan, Thank you, i had checked those two songs! But they are too fast to catch the lyrics. Actually, i like those kind of slow and sad love songs.^_^ I know Timbaland is a very popular musician there, and he feat Justin Timberlake, One republic, Nelly Furtado, etc.

March 28, 2008, 02:19 AMI knew this song from this American soap. I was deeply moved when Rufus said " I can't help myself... I should never let you let me go!"

March 28, 2008, 04:11 PMAh, Sonic Youth indeed! More proof that CPod is a wonderful place...where else can you get your fix of Mandarin and Sonic Youth? Henning, where in Germany was this show? Great video by the way...the editing when the strobes were going off is really great.

March 28, 2008, 04:18 PMcalkins, that one was in Düsseldorf. It was also broadcasted on TV (WDR 3), which explains the professional editing. Haven't been to a concert for a long, long time...

March 28, 2008, 04:25 PMChildren will do that to you :) Maybe when your children are old enough, you can take them to a Miley Cyrus concert! Which kind of reminds me of my very first concert in 1985 (yikes)....Madonna's "Like A Virgin" Tour, with my best friend and my mom! Good times good times.

March 29, 2008, 04:38 AMWell, one of my first concerts was Jimi Hendrix. That's how far I go back!

I can imagine, but i think it is too wonderful to be true! For the reality, i am still here in Fuzhou city, Fujian Province, China!!!!

March 28, 2008, 03:38 PMCasie, you are absolutely right. Better listen to grand old masters. Here is a classic for perfect dreams (need to listen to the whole clip to really appreciate it): YouTube is unbelievable. I have been to exactly that very concert in 96. Maybe you can even spot me (I was in the first rows).
