I've just watched the first episode of a programme called "Chinese School" which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thought I'd share the link with the CPod community.

Chinese School
The Year of the Golden Pig
Duration: 60 minutes
Series about the hopes and dreams of a group of children at three schools in rural China. The children prepare for the biggest challenge of their lives.

For those of you in the UK you can watch the programme again over the next 4 days by using BBC iPlayer. If anyone outside the UK manages to get hold of the programme I'd love to hear about it.

I want to agree that I thought this was a great programme and recommend it to everyone. It is the first programme in a series of 5 I believe.

Hmmm, apparently BBC video doesn't work in the US. Time to throw some tea in the harbor!

BBC has been blocked here in China. You need a proxy server to access the website.

Apparently you can use this software http://www.ninjasurfing.com/ to fool iplayer into thinking your in the uk.

hi changye, The bbc.com site has never (in my 8 years experience) been blocked in China (which includes the radio feeds). What was blocked for many years is anything starting with news.bbc.com, however, for the last 2-3 weeks news has also been unblocked.

Irrespective of which countries choose to block the BBC, iPlayer is subject to restrictions imposed by the BBC itself. They have limited access to UK residents only (and those who can make themselves digitally appear as if they are in the UK). The reasoning behind this is that they were only given permission to stream all programming to a UK audience, something to do with rights management, tax-payer's money and the license fee.

I tried that ninja surfing program and it didn't seem to work. I set to a China ip address and their website still said I was in the UK. I think you have to reconfigure your firewall but it doesn't give any help.

Bazza, If you search for Hide IP in Google, lots of different IP programs pop up. I've had a look but, It seems as if some of them make internet browsing slow, and they're not cheap. I have watched the 2nd program. shows a great deal of Chinese culture. I thought that it was amusing that in the province a couple could have a second child if the first was a girl. (If there is a lack of females, who is going to have the babies??)
