I hope the the above is right? I am under the impression that I am not allowed to use 他 for non-human. Anyway.. you wanted to see what my dog looked like so I decided to start this new discussion. I think it might be an idea for all poddies to put a picture of more of their favourite pet up in this discussion too.

May 06, 2008, 07:53 AMI might use this conversation to say a couple of things: Welcome back, Auntie68! I have missed you and your comments immensely this last week or two. It is good to see that you and your computer are back in action. :) Oh hey! I just got word from my parents that a package has arrived for me at their place! :) I always get stuff sent there because it's easier. Let's just say that I am now the proud owner of a ChinesePOD shirt as well as a t-shirt produced by sinosplice.com's owner, John Pasden, which says "Please Speak To Me In Mandarin" on the front.. well I hope that's what it says.. lol.. otherwise I'm going to get some pretty strange looks when I first wear it in public!! :)
light487
May 06, 2008, 11:33 AMYes... I have confirmed now that the T-shirt does indeed say "Please Speak Mandarin".. I had to be sure.. This is what is on the front of the shirt: 请讲普通话。 Now I can walk around Sydney with my "Please Speak Mandarin" shirt on.. hopefully I will get more exposure to mandarin this way. Will let you all know what reaction I get from people on Friday when I wear it for the first time in public. :)

May 05, 2008, 12:12 PMHi light487, It seems that hitokiri is learning traditional Chinese characters, so please be careful not to mix up them with simplified ones. 牠 is the traditional form of 它. By the way, your dog is NOT fat, or he is very slim. Do you still have a severe food problem in Australia? Chinese people has already overcome 吃饭的问题.

May 05, 2008, 09:39 AMlight: for living "its": 牠 is used instead of the non-living ta1: 它. :)
