Good news from Cassie

It's very late here, almost 12am now. But I can't wait to share with you guys a good news before I get to bed. I passed the TEM (Test for English Major)band8. I got this news tonight and I thought I should share with you guys! I am thankful that I got to know Chinesepod half a year ago and I am thankful that I always have you guys help me. In the past six months, I learned a lot from chinesepod especially our special community. Thank you very much. It's your learning passion encouraged me. It's your comments enlighten me. I like learning with you guys, it is very fun. Again, thank you very much!^_^

@changye, it seems that in the article you've posted it's talking about Chinese people translating from Chinese into English -- something that's very common in the Chinese translation industry. Internationally, though, it is very rare for a translator to translate into anything but their native language. As China's translation market matures, that will likely become the norm here as well.

I guess that might be partly because there aren't enough native English speakers who are proficient in Mandarin yet. I also believe that the situation will likely change (or improve?) in the not-so-distant future.

Instead of hanging out for celebration, I went to the library to tutor some of my students' English, especially the writing. I am glad that i can help them a little bit at least, althought I am not in charge of teaching their college English course now. I backed my dorm very late last night, so that's why I posted that thread at about 12 AM. I did not plan to have a rest, I think i should keep on studying hard and keep on working hard since i am a new guy when it comes to work.
Changye, very good point. Don't worry, I can understand you very well. I can give you my answer about why college students who had got the TEM band8 certificate that can not be a qualified translator. As an English major student, the ideal job is to be a translator in the future. But in fact, students who study English in China face a very very big problem. According to China's education system, I should admit that there still are a lot of things need to improve. The most things that students learned from college courses is professional theory. That's why we feel embarrassed when we found out what we learned from the books are not the most practical use in the real world. So that is why I like learning with you guys here on chinesepod. I like chinesepod's teaching method. And also, to be a qualified or excellent translator needs time and experiences. In some ways, graduate from college that means a new begining. Go out of the campus and get to know the real world, there are plenty of things you need to learn as a green hand.

We lack of those talented people who know foreign culture very well and master foreign language like Jenny and John.
And I am sure that it is also hard for Jenny to be a translator at the very beginning.
