Superstition Redux: Expansion Sentences as Fortune Cookies

October 05, 2008, 12:13 PM posted in General DiscussionI can't fight it. When I work through the Expansion sentences, my brain always tries to attach some deep wisdom or meaning to those isolated sentences. And some of those really function really well as horoscopes or fortune cookies:
钱得用在正经地方,可不能乱花。
(You should spend your money on serious stuff. Don't waste it.)
(You've packed it too full, it's cumbersome now.)
(There has been more and more unreliable news lately.)
And what hidden messages might lie in?
(If the computer's broken, you have to go to a designated repair shop.)
(You have to speak loudly in order to be heard over the roar of the construction machinery.)
Try it. If you do it skillfully you can add a perfect new layer of paranoioa upon your life ;)
