Shaw Bros movies other steps beyond "What's the Story"

I'm finding that Shaw Bros. movies seem to be good for improving my listening skills.  They were made in Hong Kong, but always have a Mandarin soundtrack and English sub-titles.  The Mandarin doesn't have a strong accent, is usually pretty straight-forward, and the movies are mostly action/kung fu.  So, there is lots of visual context to figure out what is going on, even if I miss a few words, or even a lot of words.

I'm wondering if any other Podies have found other learning materials that seem to be a bridge between CPOD and the wide, wonderful world of full-on Mandarin?

I have been laid up with a cold during the past two weeks, and have been watching English movies and TV series on Youku. The cool thing is that they have Chinese subtitles and at times are dubbed in Chinese. So for classic movies whose plot and dialog I know well it's much easier to understand the dialog or subtitles.

The Mandarin versions of Spongebob on Youku are perfect (search for 海绵宝宝). E.g. in this precious little episode you learn a lot of vocab on rockets, aliens, and, well, catching them.
