Hi cassie,

I came across the word "小年夜" for the first time when I was watching TV yesterday. This year, "大年三十" (The Eve of 春节) is January 25th, isn't it?

过去，过小年是"官三民四道土和尚五"，就是说凡是家有秀才以上的功名的都在腊月二十三日过小年，黎民百姓是二十四日，道士和尚是二十五日。如今北方地区多在二十三日过小年。

你说的对，今年的大年三十除夕夜是在一月二十五日！

关于小年，现在北方人大多数是在二十三过，而我们南方人大多数是在二十四过！

除夕夜就快到了，日复一日，年复一年，时间过的可真快啊！
