Chinese audiobooks

Does anybody know where to obtain Chinese audiobooks?  I don't mean Chinese-learning audiobooks either. I mean full-fledged books read in Chinese. I don't really care what the subject or story is, I'm just looking for extra listening practice. Thanks in advance.

Hi jckeith

You can find a lot of websites that offer you audio files by googling (China) with keywords “有声读物” or “有声小说”. Here are some for you.

Thanks, changye, for helping out with the links.

It's great to set challenges for yourself, and I am very reluctant to 泼冷水 ;-) I'd like to mention, though, that listening to audiobooks may be one of the most difficult things you can do in your Chinese studies. The writing in books can be chengyu-heavy, and the grammar can be dense. Plus, most readings are essentially monologues by a single reader. For listening practice, I find talk radio is much better. The language used tends to be more ordinary, and there are a variety of topics.

Again, I wouldn't want to discourage anyone. And book readings are great, perhaps as a supplement to actually reading the book.

The only audio material I've ever used in my Chinese study is a cassette with a book named 寓言故事,什么盘古开天地,女娲补天,愚公移山 etc. Pete is right, it's like monologues, but things are better listening with the book.

Thanks guys. I actually agree with you, Pete. Listening to talk radio is no problem at home, but I can't do it at work. So, I figured I'd listen to an audiobook at work instead.

Changye

Many thanks for this link http://www.yousheng8.com/

A year ago I struggled trying to read 鬼吹灯-龙岭迷窟,and reached about page 50 after 6 months!  Each page seeming endless to turn up 40 or so new words.

But now, I have managed to find the audio! Perhaps it will give me a new lease of life to complete the book.

Pete: I agree - without the book, I would not have a chance of understand the audio.
