Japanese Hongbao

According to this video, the level of formality of the japanese Hongbao looks amazing (especially if compared to the chinese red envelopes I sometimes use).

Btw, you should read "japanese Hongbao" not "Hangbao". Strange typo on the exact same word !

Hi Changye,

Yes that's right, in this video the japanese Hangbao is white and very elaborate. A japanese woman explains how to prepare it for a wedding.

When I follow your second link, the japanese Hangbao also seems to need a third layer (that wasn't shown in the video).

Actually Japanese "红包" (red envelope) is not necessarily red. They are usually white, unlike China and Korea. Instead, Japanese Hongbao often have beautiful decorations, from which you can see traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
