December 03, 2009, 01:28 AM posted in General DiscussionI have the new perakun translator installed in firefox. It requires a Chinese-English dictionary plugin, and the link to said plugin is available at the developer's website. The problem is, his website is blocked in China. Can someone be a champ and go there, download the file and then email it to me? I would be very grateful.

December 03, 2009, 11:11 AMHi xiaophil
Thanks a lot! I made it. It seems the dictionary has been actually improved. The character "石" shows two pinyin "dan4" and "shi2" this time, but the old dictionary only showed "dan4", which is rarely used in modern Chinese.

December 03, 2009, 02:14 AMThanks Changye, but actually I think the new perakun has solved some of the accuracy problems and have added a few useful features.

December 03, 2009, 05:16 AMknock, knock... anybody home? ;)
By the way, I originally provided my email above, but it has turned to 'PM me'. Fairly annoying, since as far as I know, we cannot send attachments this way. If you send me a PM, I will email you back.

December 03, 2009, 02:11 AMHi xiaophil
I had the same problem and found a new pop-up translator "Mandarin Pop-up". I think this addon is just great, although it is still not perfect. I feel "pinyin" shown by Mandarin pop-up are more accurate than those by Chineseperakun. Good luck.

December 03, 2009, 09:50 AMHi xiaophil
I've just finished downloading the file (4.55 MB), and it's on the desktop now. Also I already installed Chineseperakun, but I still can't use the addon. What shall I do next?
Hi jckeith
Thanks for your contribution!

December 03, 2009, 10:04 AMI dragged and dropped the file onto the Firefox icon, and the file seems to be succussfully installed into the browser, but still nothing happens. Default toggle key is "alt + 0", but it doesn't work. Of course, both perakun and the Chinese dictionary are "operative" now. The version of my Firefox is 3.0.15.

December 03, 2009, 10:16 AMHey Changye
Look on the bottom part of your browser. There should be a new button. Don't use the old blue button. Does that work?
Another thing is, make sure you have the most current version of pera kun. I think you know that, but I want to make sure as I think this version has been recently updated at the Mozilla website.

December 03, 2009, 05:50 AMThanks a lot! You're the man. My email is phil.g.beckwith@gmail.com. You might have to download it with something other than Firefox, as if you use Firefox, it might try to install it rather than download it.
