"No it's just lychee!"

December 22, 2009, 12:13 AM posted in General DiscussionYesterday I had a business dinner with my husband (and 2 different companies). Both parties were extremely nice and made me feel very welcome. There was one small issue (I am a vegetarian) and they were afraid I did not have enough food. I am not a big eater and if there are a few veggies I'm happy. So after refusing several times, they still ordered a0 few special dishes for me (which is very thoughtful and nice. I feel a bit bad and really do not need much, but there is no way you can avoid this. So, one of the especially for me dishes was a papaya filled with soup and "lychees". It tasted good, but the lychees were of a substance that I did not recognise as fruit. Then the menu came and (to my surprise / horror) I just ate toad's eggs / ovaries :-). My husband had so much fun (he thinks I am a difficult eater). In Dutch I told him: trust me I get back at you for this one :-P. Never trust the pasta made by your wife again!

December 22, 2009, 03:12 AMHi chanelle77
Judging from this post, you have no problem eating "Gun-kan-maki", a kind of sushi that uses fish eggs, crab eggs or sea urchin.

December 22, 2009, 07:41 AMChanelle, 让我想一想 ...
But if your husband is a pretty adventurous eater, there probably isn't much to do by way of horrifying him is there?
Must be so fun for you to travel together!
