A friend just told me there is a character that if you learn how to write i, you can write any other charater. But she does not know what it is. Has anyone else heard this? More importantly, does anyone know what it is?

Hi orangina

Probably it's the character “永”, which contains eight commonly used strokes in it.

I remember also learning this about the character 永 when I briefly studied calligraphy.

It's a little confusing, because the character 永 only has five strokes. But within them, these five strokes contain 8 different individual stroke types.

哈哈!If "forever" is the character I'm looking for that is pretty great. It is actually the first character I learned.
