Dear Helen,
Here are some sentence patterns I have made based on some structures in
the lessons. If you have time to look at them, I would appreciate your advice.
1。Verb+得+result. 你得站得远一点。
他说得非常好。
你吃得太快。
她走得很慢。
我游得很慢。
2。你要下心。（Can 得be used instead of 要？)
你要多学习。
我们要多练习。
她要去图书馆。
我要多喝水。

pa4re4 = 怕热 (afraid of hot weather)
I am not quite sure about the first word"he4si3", are you sure it is the right Pinyin?

I tested my Skype, and it seems to be working. I don't have new lessons, so I have been reviewing. I've been taking the Newbie test also for practice. There were two answers that I couldn't find in the dictionnary--he4si3, and pa4 re4.

Mary,
The word 老 can also be used to describe clothing, but just for old styles. For example，
这件衣服的款式（kuan3shi4=style）很老。
旧 is used to describe clothing itself is not new anymore.
对，new clothes = 新衣服。

I have a question--in the vocabulary the word 老is given. Can this be used to describe clothing or should 旧 be used? Would "new clothes" be 新衣服？
