Zero to Hero on ChinesePod
John
October 12, 2007, 04:00 AM posted in General DiscussionSo I came back to work on Monday after having been in Turkey for 8 days. That meant My "Active User" score went down to ZERO. (Each point you get only lasts a week.) Yet, over the course of the week, I have experienced a meteoric rise to the #1 "Most Active User" position.
Am I amazing or what? I'm commenting like it's my job. (Hmmm, wait a minute...)
I'd like to thank Bazza, Art, Pulosm, Kyle, Sputnik, Henning, and all the other users that have helped me to get where I am today. You guys are great.
Remember: if I can do it, you can too!

October 13, 2007, 12:25 AMsputnik, that would be great.

October 12, 2007, 04:17 AMsparechange, Ummm, I don't know what you're talking about... Surely you're aware of my squeaky clean record of never "tricking" people into adding to my MAU score... :D As for plane tickets, NO, definitely NOT free. I paid more for those tickets to Turkey than I've ever paid for tickets to ANYWHERE in my LIFE. But it's really good to get out of China during the National Day holiday, when every interesting place becomes absolutely PACKED with tourists...

October 12, 2007, 04:37 AMThe ultimate hero position is #5. But it is unbelievable hard to hold.

October 12, 2007, 05:02 AMWill you have a Chinesepod (Super-) Hero Cape as a give-away for the highest climber in 2007 or something? But refrain from jumping of buildings or getting into a fight with the EVIL ONES!

October 12, 2007, 06:15 AM从零到英雄?

October 12, 2007, 06:21 AM实现了零的突破当作英雄了?
henning
October 12, 2007, 06:27 AMNext try, sorry. 实现了零的突破, 就变成英雄了? Part one stolen from "Olympic Medals"

October 12, 2007, 09:52 AMWell, Kyle, why am I not surprised? It becomes addictive, doesn't it, to see one's name on that list. My friends, who are constantly making fun of my involvement in the Cpod community, are now cheering me on to try for #1. But I have a life to live...

October 12, 2007, 04:12 AMDoesn't every response to this thread contribute to your longevity in the Active User list? It's ok, your secret's safe with me...and the rest of the free world. So what I want to know is are they handing out free plane tickets with the travel brochures in Shanghai? You've been to Turkey, Amber went to Mexico...
Kyle
October 12, 2007, 10:35 AMIt doesn't help when you have an addictive personality. Hey, speaking of #1's, version 2 of CPod had a list of the Top 50 memory / concentration game players. Why did that disappear with V3? That thing rocked.

October 12, 2007, 10:59 AMJohn, You can thank me by tossing an unbiased coin the next time you have to select between me and someone else for coming up with the correct Movie Madness answer. ;-) Boy, am I glad Amber's coming back next week. :-) Have a terrific weekend. Art

October 12, 2007, 02:08 PMI should try, then?... If only I could think of a good subject to start a thread...

October 12, 2007, 02:15 PMOh, it's like heroin... you're addicted after the first hit. I made on the list a while back, and I've been having trouble sleeping since I fell off.

October 12, 2007, 06:14 PMSparechange, Cpod is excellent for procrastination.... Take it from an expert. ;-)

October 12, 2007, 11:38 PMI find this strange, actually. The forum is such a good a place to post many many things (and the forum is searchable!) But since this hero list is active, many posts, that would have gone to the forum before, get lost here... I'll never ever find them. I feel much more like a hero, when someone has a question right now and finds my answer I posted six months ago. To get me right, please have fun here. But don't forget about the excellent forum, if you have any questions or answers worth to be accessed by the "big brain" for more than a couple of days. (Am I getting old?)

October 13, 2007, 12:03 AMcould CPod not make this place searchable too?
John
October 12, 2007, 10:14 AMwildyaks, It's a fleeting kind of glory. I likely will fall from #1 over the weekend. Still, if you're never been #1 on the MAU list, YOU HAVEN'T LIVED! :)
