iPhone/iPad iOS 5 - Chinese handwriting input

Anyone notice an improvement? Or is it the same? Lion got handwriting recognition improvements, I wonder if Apple ported those changes to iOS 5. I am waiting until iOS gets its first update before I upgrade. I am wary of the battery issues.

I took a look at Apple's changelog. It says improved Chinese and Japanese input. Kind of vague. Does it mean pinyin, typing or handwriting input? Or all?

Not sure what the changes might be. From the language, it sounds like general improvement in how well it works, rather than a specific new feature. You could take a look at the iPhone manual updated for iOS 5 at 

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

starting on p. 153 to see if anything new is listed.

 

BTW I have had no battery issues using iOS 5.0 on iPhone 4.
