Vocab section?

大家好!

I was lately wondering about the features of the vocab section... I have to admit I never used it that much as I normally study vocab with pleco or - with pen and paper:)...

But why are we able to read every time we open the homepage that user... created a vocab set...

Great she/he did, but where is the use for others to know? I checked through some users profile..only on one profile I was able to find a vocab set above his groups list, but when I clicked it it was empty.

Same as once I read user... shared a vocab set, but when I clicked his profile I didn't see it.

Then I went to my vocab section looking for the feature to share one of my vocab sets, but I was not able to find...

As there is this "Latest Study Activity" list where I can see people creating vocab sets, I thought it must be possible to access them...like I see somebody created a set 'travel' and I think, -"Great, this is a topic I would love to brush up my vocab on...I am going to study her/his collection of words".

Am I right and just not able to find out how?

How can I share vocab sets?

Thanks,格桑

Hi gesang

I must confess I still don't know what "vocab set" is in the first place. And I don't know what "latest study activity" is for. But it doesn't bother me at all, hehe.

well, it seems we are not alone :-)... If you don't know I think I will have to wait for a cpod team member to read...

@gesang, creating a vocab set arises when you tag words saved to your vocabulary (i.e. for flashcards and/or matching game). For example, I usually tag my vocabulary terms for a specific lesson with the lesson title, so that I can focus on one lesson.

Under the old system I used to also create sets of vocabulary that I thought would be useful, such as business, emotions, etc. However, the system didn't work very well back then, so I stopped. It does work very well now, so I need to start going back to it.

The usual reason for me sharing a vocab set is that I accidentally share it when I wanted to rename it (the sharing is done in the edit section). After I misclick, I usually unshare straight away, but the message that I shared a vocab set still gets published, even though it's immediately unshared.

I have to admit I'm with gesang on this, I don't have a clue about sharing vocab or viewing others...

I just label my vocab in numbers in sets of 20. So my first 20 words would be set 1 and so on...my reason for this though would be a seperate discussion ;)

I am interested to find out about the whole sharing side of things though.

The idea is that if a user goes to the trouble of creating a vocabulary set called "Farm Animals" or "things in the kitchen," then she may want to share it with other users.

To do this, she would first label all the words in the set (all the farm animal vocab, or whatever), and then share the label.

It's true that it's a feature that doesn't get a lot of attention, and it's also not useful to know that someone has created a vocab set unless it's also shared. We'll have to review this again.

Hi John, thank you for your answer... So I was right? In case another user shares a set I should be able to access and study it?

Ehm... i am sorry I might just not see the obvious..but..how?

Just now there is a user in the 'Latest Study Activity' list, who shared a new set. When I went to his profile I saw he has two sets and there is a number in brackets (61) so I suppose this is the number of words in the set...but when I click the link I am back in my vocab section...nothing added...

Where is my error in reasoning?

gesang,

Your reasoning is correct. Something is not working correctly. I will investigate and get back to you.
